Bowerley Gardens – Subterranean Passive House Excellence in Yorkshire
Tucked into the rolling hills of the Yorkshire countryside, Bowerley Gardens is a truly exceptional home – a subterranean, design-led new build that merges bold architecture with outstanding building performance. Clad in locally sourced Yorkshire stone and built into the hillside itself, the property blends discreetly into its rural setting while achieving exemplary levels of energy efficiency.
Airtightness Meets Architectural Elegance
For this home, we worked alongside Uno Windows and Doors to supply and install a premium Internorm glazing package – a brand renowned for pushing the boundaries of energy performance.

The six KS430 sliding doors are the centrepiece of this project, each one boasting vast panes of high-performance triple glazing. They don’t just provide industry-leading thermal performance – they flood the underground living spaces with natural light and offer a breathtaking connection to the outside world.
Flush thresholds ensure a seamless flow between inside and out, maintaining accessibility while honouring the minimalist design aesthetic of the property.
Designed for Performance – Installed with Precision
The success of this project relied not only on outstanding products but on the expertise to integrate them within a continuous airtight envelope – a challenge we were more than ready for.
Our Passive House knowledge and installation experience were instrumental in delivering this level of performance. We designed and installed bespoke airtight trays beneath each slider, ensuring long-term durability, air tightness, and thermal continuity.
By aligning our approach with the client’s performance goals and understanding the complexities of subterranean construction, we helped create a home that’s as technically robust as it is aesthetically striking.
